At 3 Bears Cottage, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Breearna Thorn, known to many of our families as Bree, for her nomination in the Young Female Educator Excellence Award category.
At just 25 years of age, Bree has already achieved what many educators work towards over decades. Her journey began at 3 Bears Cottage as a young trainee, and over the past six years she has grown into one of the strongest and most respected leaders within our service.
Today, Bree holds several important roles, including Early Childhood Teacher, Educational Leader, Nominated Supervisor and Assistant Director. While these titles reflect her professional growth, they only tell part of her story. Bree’s real impact is seen in the way she leads with warmth, maturity, courage and genuine care.
Bree’s connection to 3 Bears Cottage is deeply personal. She once attended the service as a child herself, and her journey has now come full circle. From learning and playing within these rooms, to now shaping the learning experiences of the next generation, Bree truly understands the heart, history and values of our service.
As an Early Childhood Teacher, Bree creates a preschool program that is rich in creativity, emotional safety and real-world learning. She believes children are capable, curious and full of potential. Through meaningful projects, community experiences, family connections and thoughtful documentation, Bree helps children build confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging.
As Educational Leader, Bree supports educators across the whole service to reflect, grow and strengthen their practice. She encourages intentional teaching, inclusive environments and learning that is connected to children’s lives, families and community. Her leadership is calm, clear and deeply supportive.
Bree also plays a vital role in mentoring young educators and trainees. She has a gift for seeing people’s potential before they see it in themselves. She explains, encourages and adapts her support until others feel confident. Her belief that “we make magic happen” is more than a phrase — it is the way she leads, teaches and inspires those around her.
Families feel Bree’s impact through the trust and connection she builds. She listens, supports and walks alongside families, especially during times of transition, challenge or uncertainty. Her inclusive approach is shaped not only by her professional knowledge, but also by her personal understanding of neurodiversity and the importance of meeting each child where they are.
Bree’s leadership extends beyond our service. She has shown commitment to advocacy, inclusion, strategic improvement and the future of early childhood education. Whether she is supporting children, guiding educators, managing compliance, leading projects or helping shape the direction of the service, Bree does so with purpose and heart.
What makes Bree so special is not just what she has achieved at a young age. It is how she has achieved it — with humility, compassion, determination and a deep love for children, families, educators and the early childhood sector.
We are so proud of Bree and the incredible leader she has become.
Her journey is a beautiful reminder of what can happen when passion, opportunity and belief come together.
