For 30 years, 3 Bears Cottage has been more than an early childhood service. It has been a place of belonging, trust, learning and connection — a village where children are seen, families are supported, and educators are valued.
What began as the dream of a 22-year-old newly graduated early childhood teacher has grown into a deeply loved, intergenerational service. Over three decades, we have watched children grow, return as educators, and later walk through our doors again with children of their own. It is a story built on relationships, consistency and an unwavering belief in the power of early childhood education.
At first glance, early education may sound simple: care, meals, nappies, routines and learning experiences. But what we provide is much deeper. We create emotional safety. We build trust. We support children’s social, cultural and emotional development. We offer families peace of mind, knowing their child is not only cared for, but deeply known and valued.
Our service has continued to grow in response to the needs of our community. Expanding from 43 to 50 places allowed us to support more families, particularly those needing quality care for babies and infants. This growth reflects the trust our community has placed in us and the strong reputation built through word of mouth, family loyalty and long-standing relationships.
Community connection has always been at the heart of who we are. Our curriculum reaches beyond the walls of the service through excursions, fundraising, community events and meaningful local partnerships. Whether children are visiting local spaces, participating in acts of kindness, supporting charities or learning through real-world experiences, they are developing a strong sense of citizenship, empathy and belonging.
This year, as part of our 30th birthday celebrations, we launched our “30 Acts of Kindness” initiative — a commitment to giving back to the community that has supported us for three decades. Families, children and educators all contributed ideas, helping shape a celebration that is not only joyful, but purposeful.
We are also proud of the recognition our service has received over recent years, including award wins, finalist placements, community acknowledgements and achievements in children’s creative programs. These successes are more than trophies or certificates; they reflect the dedication of our educators, the strength of our families, and the impact of a service that leads with both heart and professionalism.
Behind everything we do is our team. We believe extraordinary care for children begins with extraordinary care for educators. Our staff wellbeing, training and support systems are designed to help educators feel valued, motivated and connected to their purpose. From professional development and personalised learning plans to wellness initiatives and genuine appreciation, we aim to grow not only educators, but advocates and leaders within the early childhood sector.
Looking ahead, our vision is bold. We hope to continue growing into a wellbeing-focused hub where education, care and allied health can work together to support the whole child. We believe the future of early childhood education must be inclusive, collaborative and deeply human — a place where families feel supported, children receive early and meaningful help, and educators are empowered by strong professional partnerships.
After 30 years, our story is still being written. It is written by every child who learns and laughs here, every family who trusts us, every educator who gives their heart to this work, and every community connection that reminds us why early childhood education matters.
